Decorating for parties is my favorite part!

For this autumn party I brought the outside in...colorful leaves, mini pumpkins and fresh flowers.

Ribbons and table coverings in gorgeous fall colors tied everything together and added some pizzazz.

autumn party decorations

Did you know that by simply draping ribbons on a wall you can create a fabulous backdrop?

It's such a pretty, inexpensive idea that makes a big statement!

I also made little flowers out of crepe paper and hot glued them to ribbon to create a garland for the table.

It added a pretty, festive touch.

Gold balloons hung from the ceiling and doorways to add some depth and color to the party room.

The plates and napkins that I found for this party were gorgeous!

The eggplant and shades of green were the perfect compliment to the party palette.

Sadly, I found them on clearance at Target, and I don't think they'll be available much longer.

You can try to look for yourself at if you really want to have them.

Fortunately, there's somewhere else you can find pretty tableware if you missed out on the Target bargain.

Autumn Party Ideas: On the Menu

fall comfort food ideas

Comfort food is a fall season essential!

Make it easy on yourself by tossing some delicious party recipes into a crock pot or two.

A homemade beef stew or yummy homemade chicken soup is hearty and will make your house smell divine!

This amazing recipe for crock pot brie with pecans and cranberries will give your guests something to munch on while they mingle.

Bowls of nuts are easy, and also a great fit for an autumn party. {Quick Side Note: Nuts in the shell are fabulous to use as decorations for this party! Put them at the bottom of glass vases and top with limbs of fall leaves, or use them in glass votives and top with candles. Pretty and inexpensive}!

Stick with the fall theme by serving apple cider (which can also be kept warm in a crock pot) or Apple Orchard Punch as beverages. Delish!

Don't have enough crock pots for all of this?

Borrow some from friends for the day, or get some inexpensively from

You can get these adorable soup crocks, there, too!

Autumn Party Ideas: The Birthday Cake

autumn birthday cake

The birthday girl has a dachsund that she adores, so I decided to make her a cake to honor her pup.

I went with a two-tone, two-tier cake, and made a custom chocolate topper to finish it off.

The bottom tier was chocolate cake covered in chocolate buttercream, and the top layer was chocolate cake covered in white buttercream.

The bottom tier was dressed with some pretty ribbon, while the border between the tiers was adorned with of the birthday girl's favorite candies.

Obviously not everyone would like a dachsund on the top of their cake.

Try using a nice arrangement of fresh autumn flowers as your cake topper, instead.
