Cat in the Hat Cake

by Nikki

Calling all Dr. Suess Fans...
this Cat in the Hat Cake is Adorable!

My niece is a big "Cat in the Hat" fan and wanted that to be the theme of her birthday party.

I needed a cake big enough to feed up to 40 people, so this was the best option!

It's two layers of chocolate cake baked in 12" x 18" pans.

The frosting is a simple buttercream, whitened with Wilton's whitening paste.

The cat was drawn freehand with black decorating icing
and the swirls were done with red decorating icing.

I cut out the letters of her name in cardboard and glued white paper on them, then decorated the letters with red stripes and black accents.

From the party girl: Nikki, what an adorable little cake! I love the whimsical little accents...so fun and perfect for this theme! Great job!
