Games and Activities for Your High School Musical Birthday Party

The kids will have a blast with these High School Musical games and activities!

Here is a list of a few that we did at our party, as well as some other ideas that you may like:

  • High School Musical Karaoke: Crank up the music and just let the kids sing along, or you can purchase HSM Karaoke CDs for the party.
  • High School Musical Bingo : Classic party game, played with pictures of the HSM cast.
  • high school musical scavenger hunt

  • High School Musical Scavenger Hunt: Come up with a list of questions from the movie, and use them to create a scavenger hunt. For example, one question could be "What was Gabriella doing at the beginning of the first HSM movie?" The answer...reading a book. The kids would go to the bookshelf where they would find a book that held the next clue. Plant as many clues as you'd like, and then hide goody bags for the kids at the last spot.
  • Plant a Smooch on Troy: Played like Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Hang a poster of Troy about face-height on a wall. Have the girls put on a bold-color lipstick, and then, one at a time, blindfold them. Spin them around a time or two, and have them "plant a smooch" on Troy. The one that gets closest to his lips wins a prize.
  • Watch one of the HSM movies: This is a great activity for sleepovers, when you're ready for the kids to wind down.
  • High School Musical Dance Mat : Kids dance to 4 popular songs from the movie by moving their feet to the lighted beat. Mat has 3 levels of pre-programmed routines, and is best for ages 5 and up.
  • HSM Name That Tune: Play just the first little bit of HSM songs and see who can guess what it is before the singing starts. A fun alternative would be to write down some incomplete lyrics on a piece of paper and having the kids try to fill in the blanks or finish the line. The kids get a huge kick out of that!
  • Hoop Shooting Contest: Instead of "HORSE" play "CATS" (for the Wildcats)
  • East High Megaphone Pinata

High School Musical Party Favors

There are some super-cute, pre-filled HSM party favor boxes that would be great to hand out to all of the kids at your party.

They are sold individually, but if you plan on ordering a party pack that was mentioned above, you can add eight favor boxes and get a pretty good a price break.

If you aren't crazy about the favor boxes and you want to come up with your own goody bags, that's great!

Here are some ideas for things that you could include:

  • Sharpay sunglasses
  • Small basketballs
  • High School Musical CD: To keep this inexpensive, just burn copies of the soundtrack onto blank CDs. You can even mix and match songs from all three soundtracks.
  • Items with paw prints on them (to represent the Wildcats)

Food and Snacks for a High School Musical Birthday Party

Food that you would eat at a basketball game or pep rally seems fitting for this occasion.
