Hot Cocoa Party

Keep the winter chill away with a Hot Cocoa Party!

Setting up a hot cocoa bar and surrounding yourself with friends is a perfect way to warm up a winter day!

What's even better, you can host a get-together like this without a lot of planning, and with very little expense.

If it's the holiday season you could even use the party to your advantage and have ornaments out for guests to help you decorate your tree (which will save you some work), or you could set up a station where they can create their own ornaments.

Otherwise, just light a fire in the fireplace and enjoy the company of some good friends while sipping on some chocolate deliciousness.

Friends + chocolate = the makings of a wonderful day. :)

Hot Cocoa Party Invitations

We recently opened our very own printable party shop, with our Hot Cocoa collection being the first line to debut.

Our fun and colorful invitations are a cheery way to invite your guests over to get cozy and spend some time catching up.

These invitations are customized with your party details, then sent to you in PDF format via e-mail for you to print as many as you'd like.

They are available in our shop here, along with the rest of our Hot Cocoa printable party collection.

Hot Cocoa Party Decorations

A hot cocoa bar will be the center of your party decor and really doesn't require a lot of effort.

Simply set out some festive mugs, or styrofoam cups dressed with colorful sleeves, along with some of your favorite hot chocolate toppings and you're all set to go!

If you're feeling a little more festive, snowflake garland or an inexpensive batch of flowers will add instant cheer.

I also love this "Keep warm and drink chocolate" art print. It fits into the theme perfectly and adds a fun touch.

Hot Cocoa Party Supplies

Using just a few inexpensive paper goods you can turn your hot cocoa bar into a bright and colorful little celebration station!

Simply line your bar area with paper napkins like these candy cane striped napkins to add a pop of color and protect from spills.

With just a little bit of tape and even less time, you could also create your own little table runner out of paper napkins. Get the "how to" here.

Paper party flags adhered to stir sticks can be personalized with guests' names to keep track of who's cocoa belongs to whom, or can display cute sayings and add a fun touch to the party.

Printable cup sleeves and party circles take plain cups and cupcakes from boring to fantastic in no time.

Hot Cocoa Party: On the Menu

Of course, hot cocoa and lots of scrumptious toppings are the star of the party.

Here are some mix-ins and topping ideas that we like, but feel free to experiment...the possibilities are endless:

  • Marshmallows
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Peppermint sticks
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Whipped cream
  • Caramel sauce
  • Chocolate sauce

Our customizable tent labels help mark each topping and add color to your display.

Sweet treats like peppermint bark or cupcakes compliment the hot chocolate well. You could even go with store-bought and save yourself some time and effort.

Hot Cocoa Party Favors

For such a casual event you certainly don't need to send your guests home with favors, but if you'd like to give them a little gift as they leave, homemade hot cocoa mix in a jar is a really cute idea.

Choose your favorite recipe (I used this one), then simply layer the ingredients in small jars, top them off with our "Cocoa to Go" and instruction tags and you're all set.

If you like what you see on this page, please share it with your friends!
