Napolitain Cakes
(little French-syle cakes) Ingredients: Note: This recipe was submitted from a guest in the United Kingdom, so you will find two measuring system equivalents for the ingredients.
Instructions: 1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees celcius (350 degrees Farenheit). 2. In a bowl put the flour and the butter together; mix to make a dough. Make a ball and let rest for 1 hour at room temperature. 3. Roll the dough to 2 cm thickness (about an 1/8 of an inch) and cut with a round dough/cookie cutter (about a 5 centimeter or 2-inch round cutter). Put on tray and bake for 25 minutes. 4. Let cool. Spread with jam and top with another cake to make a "sandwich." 5. For the frosting: Put the confectionary sugar in a small saucepan. Add the water, then heat over medium-low heat. Add food coloring, if desired. Once fairly liquidy, spread the frosting on the cakes with a big spoon. Let the cakes dry for 2 hours. |
