Plan a Murder Mystery Party
Want to throw a party that's to die for? Plan a murder mystery party!
You and your guests will have a blast getting into character and trying to figure out "who dunnit"!
What is a Murder Mystery Party?
This killer party theme brings the classic board game "Clue" to life!
Each person at the party is assigned a role in a pre-written mystery and plays it out throughout the night, discovering clues along the way to help them
determine who the killer among them actually is.
You never know...the killer could be you!
How Does it Work?
Along with their invitations, guests will receive a detailed character description and background information to set the stage.
Guests come to the party dressed in character, and ready to play their parts. They are given a set of objectives to complete which will help guests mingle and
reveal possible motives for the murder that is about to occur.
More clues and objectives will be delivered and acted out throughout the night, as one person ends up dead and everyone else is trying to figure out who committed the
crime.
Where Do I Get Murder Mystery Party Kits?
As this type of party becomes more popular, more and more companies are offering these party kits. The one that I've had personal experience with is
Night of Mystery.
Here's what I like about NightofMystery.com:
- You receive your kit instantly upon completion of your order.
- Invitations and complete hosting instructions are included.
- The host/hostess can play and doesn't know ahead of time who gets murdered or who the murderer is.
- The party kits aren't pre-scripted so no one has to memorize lines.
- There are lots of themes to choose from, and they're available for both large and small groups.
Tips to Help You Plan a Murder Mystery Party
- Encourage your guests to come "dressed to kill"! It really adds to the fun when people dress the part.
- Decorate to match the theme. If your mystery takes place at an 80's reunion, decorate your party area in an 80's theme.
- Have a back-up plan in case one of your characters doesn't show up.
