Polka Dot Birthday Party

polka dot birthday

A polka dot birthday party is super stylish and lots of fun!

Polka dots are definitely the "in" trend right now, so we decided to turn this funky fad into a party theme.

It was a really easy party to plan, and the kids just LOVED it!

So, if you have a tween or teen birthday party coming up, this party is definitely one to consider.

Take a peek below to find some incredibly cool ideas to get you going on your party planning, and have fun!

Polka Dot Birthday Invitations

Purchase some cute polka dot scrapbook paper from your local scrapbook store or from Scrapbook.com, and cut it down to a good invitation size.

Cut a smaller piece of vellum and print the party details on it. Use a hole punch and a coordinating ribbon to adhere the two together.

If you'd rather purchase invitations already made, you can find some cute ones here.

Polka Dot Birthday Decorations

polka dot decorations Use solid color paper plates that match your party theme to fill your party area with polka dots!

Adhere them to doorframes, windows, walls, and anywhere else you might like. They make a huge impact and look really great!

You can even make a birthday banner by stringing plates together and adding letters to the plates to spell out "Happy Birthday."

Another good idea is to hang balloons from the ceiling, so the "dots" are dangling down into the party area. BirthdayinaBox.com has some cute polka dot balloons that would go perfectly with this theme.

Polka Dot Party Supplies

CelebrateExpress.com has some cute little polka dot plates and matching cups that would be adorable for this party.

If your decorations seem a bit too busy, using solid-color tableware may look better. Just pick some of your favorite colors to go along with your theme.

We mixed and matched for our party...solid plates, cups, and silverware, and a printed tablecloth.

Polka Dot Birthday Party Games

Here are some fun games that the kids will have a ball with:

  • Twister (our girls actually opted for Twister Moves...the dance version)
  • Bingo
  • Polka Dot Punch: Blow up about twice as many balloons as there are kids using two colors (so if you have 8 kids you would blow up 8 of one color and 8 of a second color). Divide the kids into teams and assign each team a color. On your go, the kids toss the balloons into the air. The object of the game is to keep all of your team's balloons in the air while trying to knock all of the other team's balloons to the ground. Once a balloon hits the ground it's out of play. The team that runs out of balloons first is out. The kids love this so they'll want to do it over and over again!
  • Polka Dot Pop: Same premise as above, but the kids try to sit on the balloons of the opposite team and pop them. The first team to pop all of the opposing team's balloons wins. You may want to increase the amount of balloons for this game.

Polka Dot Birthday Party Favors

Circles are the way to go when it comes to choosing party favors for your polka dot party!

Anything round would be a great choice. Tuck them into snazzy little polka dot containers and you're all set! Pink with Purple Big Dots Empty Favor Boxes (4)
