Shrimp Jambalaya Recipe
This easy shrimp jambalaya recipe is a New Orleans favorite!
Whip up a big batch of this to serve at a Mardi Gras Party, or to jazz up your dinner menu.
Jambalaya Ingredients:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups chopped celery
2 green peppers, cut into 1/4" strips
2 onions, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/2 tsp. dried thyme leaves
1/2 lb. cooked ham, julienned
1 3/4 cups chicken broth
1 can (16 oz) diced tomatoes
1 cup long grain rice
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
2 lbs. med. shrimp, shelled and deveined
How to Make Jambalaya:
Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add celery, peppers, onions, garlic, parsley, and thyme; cook until tender.
Stir in ham, chicken broth, tomatoes, rice, sugar, salt, pepper, and hot pepper sauce. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low.
Cover; simmer 20 minutes.
Stir in shrimp. Cook, uncovered, 8 to 10 minutes more or until rice is tender and all liquid is absorbed.
Yield: 8 servings
