How to Make a 3-D Skateboard Cake
For this project you will need:
- One 13" x 9" cake
- Chocolate covered mini doughnuts
- Pirouhette cookie sticks
- Buttercream frosting
Instructions:
- Cut arches on the long sides of your baked 9 x 13 cake until the cake resembles a skateboard shape.
- Tint buttercream frosting with food coloring gels and pipe the design of your choice onto the cake. This can be as simple or as detailed as you want.
- When your design is complete, thread the doughnuts onto the Pirouhette cookies and place them on the skateboard to act as wheels.
To keep it easy, you could just use a simple design and your child's name like we did on the cake pictured.
If you're more adventurous, you could create your own design, or copy a design, and transfer it onto the cake using a buttercream transfer.
Element® Skateboard Cake
If you've got a teenager that's into skating, they are sure to love this skateboard birthday cake design!
First, frost the cake with chocolate buttercream frosting.
Use your computer to make a copy of the Element® skateboard symbol and transfer the design onto the cake by creating a buttercream transfer using buttercream frosting.
Then put a birthday twist on the Element® slogan by changing it from "This is my Element" to "This is my Birthday."
Frosting piped into squiggly lines around the cake edges gives it a cool look, and beads of frosting around the bottom completes the look.
