A snow cake is a beautiful way to celebrate the holidays and bring the beauty of the season right to your party!
Whether it be a winter birthday or a Christmas celebration, these snowflake cake ideas will fill your home with the spirit of the season.
How to Make a Snow Cake
Both cakes that you see here are incredibly easy to make, and use the same techniques.
Begin by frosting the sides generously with white buttercream frosting. Swirl your spatula around in the frosting to create peaks and drifts in the "snow."
Cover the top of the cake with frosting, then smooth with the spatula so that it's nice and even.
Use decorating bags filled with buttercream frosting to pipe snowflakes, poinsettias, and a birthday or holiday message on your cake.
For the cakes that you see here, I used red coloring gel for the messages and the flowers, and green coloring gel for the leaves.
I then used white frosting and a small round decorating tip to pipe snowflakes onto the top of the cake.
For a fun festive touch, sprinkle your cake with white sugar crystals. It adds lots of sparkle and makes it really pretty!
A note from the designer: The bigger the cake, the more frosting you'll need. I almost always start with a double batch, and then make more if I need it.
