When my sister requested this Vanilla Cake with Strawberry Cream Frosting from Bon Appetite Magazine for her birthday, I was more than happy to oblige!
I mean, really, just look at that picture.
Those juicy, red strawberries are hard to resist!
And after reading the reviews on Food.com, I was sold.
The cake has a great texture, and when slathered with the strawberry cream, is just heavenly.
I modified the recipe a bit to suit our taste, and made it easy on myself by keeping it a simple 2-layer cake.
If you'd like a little more filling in each bite, you can slice each layer in half as the original recipe suggests, or make three 9-inch layers like some of the reviewers did.
I might try that next time, as the cake is dense and the creamy strawberry frosting really lightens it up!
